Esker Sessions is the new series of poetry readings at Esker Arts. Every quarter, we will have a number of the finest poets in Ireland reading from and talking about their work. The series kicks off with Terry McDonagh and Polina Cosgrave.

Terry McDonagh has published twelve poetry collections, as well as plays and poetry for young people In Twelve Strange Songs, twelve of his poems have been put to music for voice and string quartet by composer Eberhard Reichel. In 2022, he was Poet in Residence and Grand Marshal at the Saint Patrick’s Day celebrations in Brussels. ‘Two Notes for Home’ is a radio documentary on the modern bard of Cill Aodáin by Werner Lewon.

Polina Cosgrave is a bilingual writer/performer based in Dublin. Polina’s debut poetry collection My Name Is was published by Dedalus Press. Her work has appeared on TV, radio and in numerous anthologies and magazines, including The Stinging Fly, Crannóg, Southword, Banshee and The Irish Times. Polina's second poetry collection Cargo was published by The Gallery Press in 2024.
