Dance Workshops for over 50's participants.
The dance workshops provide an opportunity for older members of the community to dance, express, connect and feel included in an arts practice. The workshops engage the participants in a fun and social experience which focuses on their physical health and has a positive impact on their mental well-being. The workshops begin with a gentle warm-up section (dance movement, yoga, gentle stretches), and progresses to learning some simple dances like the waltz, foxtrot, and Charleston. Some simple travelling movement around the room and a led improvisation section follow, and the workshop concludes with a gentle cool-down stretch. The workshops can be executed in a seated position for some of the class, depending on the level and ability of the participants. The music that accompanies the workshop is appealing to the age group and the participants can feel positive benefits by the end of the session which lasts 1.5 hours.
